Realisation of a dream

The old Post Office Fortress

New windows going in

An unexpected find!

Our shiny new Post Office

19th April 2019 Post Coffee Shop first day of trading

The big refurb

At the beginning of March 2019 after nearly 2 years of working in a small dark dated little post office fortress we closed our doors to begin our long awaited refurbishment.

This included a complete redesign of the Post Office counter creating a more user friendly open plan area. The store needed a complete refit with new flooring, lighting, fridges, shelving, gift and card display areas.

The rotten window frames were replaced with beautiful bespoke solid wood painted working sash windows and a previously boarded up window was revealed to let more light flood into the middle section of the store.

After 2 weeks of chaos, dust and a huge amount of hard work and late nights not to mention the discovery of an old boarded up fireplace at the Post Office end of the shop spewing ash and soot into the room, we were finally ready to open our doors.

The shiny new Post Office and store were finally up and running after a few technical issues on the 14th March 2019 to much excitement in the village.

Whilst behind the temporary door through the infamous archway work was still continuing at a rapid pace to get the coffee shop ready to go.

After a huge amount of coffee and cake tasting (tough job but essential!) we had chosen our incredible suppliers and were working with the amazing guys at Allpress to create a cool little space to serve up the best coffee on our shiny new treasured La Marzocco espresso machine.

With everything stocked up and in full working order and a fair amount of trepidation our aim was to get open for the Easter weekend in April 2019!

We were blessed with a stunningly beautiful sunny weekend and after the hiccup of our first customer ordering toast with his coffee which sent us into a panic “I didn’t think we were doing hot food????” We managed to provide said gentleman with a round of toast from our brand new industrial sized toaster designed exactly for the job!

5 years later we’re still here having battled a number of devastating floods and an world wide pandemic and we are stronger than ever! We have a really loyal customer base of villagers, cyclists, dog walkers and coffee lovers and our decision to serve the best coffee in the uk has been inspirational! Everyone loves the Allpress espresso blend that we serve and will travel far and wide to get one! Add to that a great selection of homemade cakes and scones and some delicious traybakes, our sandwiches and paninis packed with fresh, local ingredients and our now famous sausage rolls we feel that our tiny little space packs a powerful punch!

Keep an eye on our events page to find details of our plans to celebrate our 5 years of POST.
